Settings — custom API key
The key is kept only in this page's memory. It isn't saved to localStorage,
isn't sent anywhere except in calls to api.anthropic.com, and disappears once you close the tab.
In demo mode, answers come from a simple search directly in the text of the documents — no internet connection
and no cost. Once you add a key, Claude answers using the same documents.
What a Claude API call looks like in this app
The full text of the documents goes into the system message and the whole conversation history is sent with every request — the model doesn't remember anything between calls. With more documents, it's worth first searching for the relevant passages and sending only those. In production, the key doesn't belong in the browser — the call belongs on your server.
