The key is kept only in this page's memory. It isn't saved to localStorage and disappears once you close the tab. Without a key, the assistant runs in demo mode. The calendar, balances and limit check work without the API and without the internet.
What a Claude API call looks like in this app
In production, the key doesn't belong in the browser — the call should go through your server. We only send names, dates and absence types in the prompt, not personal data beyond what's necessary.
